Thomasville Updates Their Look
Project Scope
Thomasville Furniture is a nationally recognized leader in the furniture industry. When they decided to re-image and update their 150 stores, the Martin Agency was charged with developing a concept and soliciting bids. The prototype was terrific but unfortunately exceeded the budget. Meisel was asked to contribute some practical solutions that would still permit the great design ideas to work for rollout quantities.
Meisel's Solution
After reviewing the specifications, we were able to make several suggestions that resulted in bringing the concept in at budget. One of Meisel's ideas was to re-engineer a unique piece of framing hardware. Using a specially routed plastic piece, combined with some off-the-shelf magnets, allowed Thomasville to create a display that works as a three-way modular fixture. Another idea involved adapting existing fixtures that resulted in more cost savings. Plans called for a fourteen-foot header beam with graphics that had to be custom fabricated for each site's architecture. Meisel supervised the measurements of each store and found a custom fabricator with enough capacity and was willing to work with the demanding schedule.
Thomasville was eager to see this new concept in stores as soon as possible. Plans called for installing fifteen stores in five weeks. Meisel recommended two installation companies with whom we had worked previously. Material specs called for Lambda prints, double-sided banners, ready-to-apply vinyl, fabric banners, ADA signage, adhesive murals, digital wallpaper, Plexiglas mounting, specialized hardware and more. Of utmost importance was matching the color pallet cross the sixty-five different items in the bill of materials. Meisel also did pre and post installation surveys in Texas and California, and with that information was able to make several changes for stores later in the rollout schedule that will enhance the logistical aspects of the project.
The Results
Phase One has been completed and printing is underway for Phase Two. Early indications are that both new and retro fitted stores are delighted with the results and report an excellent response by store personnel and customers alike.
